MOBILE BREEDING

Why would you send away your Girls and especially your fragile, precious cria when the country’s leading herdsires can come to you?

Of course no one wants to part with their new born cria. Breeders want to care and nurture that cria during this most critical time. The anxiety over exposing it to the stress of travel and the potential for disease can be overwhelming.

The answer…MOBILE BREEDING!

The process is easy. It’s simple. There is no anxiety. All it involves is an hour of good conversation with Tim or Anita while the alpacas do all the work.

 The process is easy. Here’s how it works:

• You book the breeding with 50% down on the signing of a breeding contract as early as possible so we can schedule things. We will help you choose the best herdsire to use. We would like to get a history of fiber results, perhaps a fiber sample, a copy of the ARI certificate and if possible any information including pictures, if available, of previous cria from the female including which males sired them.
• You call Beachwood Creek Farm after the birth of your cria and arrange the breeding (about 14-21 days after the birth). Of course, you make sure the female is receptive to a male, disease free, has no infection and in the case of a maiden, you make sure she is receptive and the hymen is perforated at least seven days before the mobile breeding.
• We assume the mobile breeding to be done is within a reasonable drive (meaning a return trip can be done comfortably within a day's travel) of Beachwood Creek Farm. We will drive further for group bookings but there may be traveling costs involved and the need to be able to house the stud males in a suitable risk free field with shelter.
• Discounts are available for multiple breedings and repeat customers.
• A pen area is required. The breeding takes place. In 13 days you will need to check the female for “spit off” status. If the female is receptive, we will return on day 14. (A spit test can also be done at day 7 which will indicate whether or not ovulation has taken place. If she’s receptive it’s wise to arrange a breeding as soon as possible as you are more likely to achieve success at a different phase of her cycle.) However, if the female does not conceive after the second visit, we reserves the right to bring that female back to Beachwood Creek Farm for a veterinary inspection and further breeding. If this option is not accepted, you will sacrifice 10% of the breeding fee and the balance will be refunded.
• It is your responsibility to carry out spit tests and ultrasound exams in the time frame agreed to by both parties.
• If the female conceives, payment is due on a positive ultrasound or 60 days after the effective mating, which ever comes first.
• Beachwood Creek Farm offers a live birth guarantee for 48 hours after birth.
